A Physical Explanation for Natural Image Statistics
نویسندگان
چکیده
The statistics of texture operators on natural images are empirically determined to conform to a Weibull process. We explain these findings from the physical principles of fragmentation processes. The Weibull parameters are known to indicate the fractal dimension of the underlying system. Hence, we show the Weibull process to have a physical foundation for describing natural image statistics. Keywords— Texture, Natural image statistics, Sequential fragmentation, Fractals.

Explanation of the physical factors affecting the mental image of residents of high-rise residential buildings
When dealing with a diverse and rich environment, humans record limited information in their minds, and this information forms a comprehensive, albeit inaccurate, mental image of the environment. On the other hand, living in high-rise residential buildings in Iran is always associated with dissatisfactions that a clear mental image in the minds of the residents can reduce these dissatisfactions...
متن کاملSalient region detection from natural image statistics
The selection of salient regions in an image is the first step in many computer vision algorithms, e.g. objects recognition, classification or tracking. Our hypothesis is that local image statistics are indicative for saliency. We combine natural image statistics with the detection of salient regions. Particularly, we consider the integrated Weibull distribution as a parameterized model, which ...
متن کاملSUN: A Bayesian framework for saliency using natural statistics.
We propose a definition of saliency by considering what the visual system is trying to optimize when directing attention. The resulting model is a Bayesian framework from which bottom-up saliency emerges naturally as the self-information of visual features, and overall saliency (incorporating top-down information with bottom-up saliency) emerges as the pointwise mutual information between the f...
متن کاملImage Reconstruction Guided by Natural Scene Statistics Predicts Many Aspects of Lightness Perception
The perceived lightness of objects remains consistent under huge variations in illumination. This requires that the visual system take one effect – the amount of light landing on the retina-and disentangle the contribution of two causes: the reflectance of surfaces and how intensely they are being illuminated. Solving such an under-constrained problem requires that the visual brain makes assump...
متن کاملIntegration of Pattern Information and Natural Language Information for Image Analysis and Retrieval
Cooperative use of pattern information and natural language information is quite effective for sophisticated and flexible information processing. Therefore, it is important to investigate the integration of these kinds of information (especially in multimedia). For this purpose, we propose method for image analysis by using the natural language information extracted from the explanation text of...
